Plot: Girl is crying after a bad breakup and her friend comforts her. They are watching ‘the Notebook’ as an idea pops into the friend’s head. She tells Girl that she shouldn’t be upset and explains to her there are so many guys out there that fit into the 6 categories.
The ‘Golden’ One - this guy is seemingly perfect, ambitious, and good at everything. From sports to academics, he excels in all things. He is the epitome of the ‘perfect child’ to all parents and is the type you’d proudly want to bring home to your family. But he is also boring, arrogant, and likes to be in-charge. He is self-centred and doesn’t like to take care of other people. He likes to talk a lot about himself, sports, and his achievements. The most important things in his life are: his hair, boots, and socks. He is essentially a trophy-boyfriend and values image, achievements, and success.
The ‘Bad’ One - he is the Sydney Carton that your parents warn you about and will murder you if you ever bring him home. He has tattoos and piercings; his pastime is smoking, drinking, and admiring the Harley-Davidson he built himself and is also his only achievement in life. Deep down, he is extremely insecure and sensitive, which he attempts to cover up with hostility or violent outbursts that may or may not lead him to juvenile detention or a criminal record. He either has a traumatic or dark past – because everyone needs a reason for their ‘unacceptable’ behaviour – whether it be neglect or abuse from family etc. that shapes him into the delinquent and ‘burden’ to society that he is today. He is also charming, witty, and attractive – because natural selection needs to provide him a ‘selective advantage’ in order to reel innocent girls into his arms...or else he really has nothing going on in his life.
The ‘Artsy’ One - he is the type that loves to express himself through art, photography and writing poetry. His favourite subjects in school is mostly likely English, Philosophy, Art or any other subject that requires one to be expressive and think profoundly about life and human nature. He likes to put meaning into everything and usually analyses even the most mundane and common things. He is also a very sensitive soul and is romantic to the core after reading too many romance novels. He likes to day-dream frequently but never act upon them – instead, he writes them in a diary or journal that he keeps with him at all times. He also wears hipster glasses and dresses vintagely, because reading in the dark too much gives him bad eyesight and he prefers the comfort of vintage clothes and tradition.
The ‘Rich’ One - think of a male version of Paris Hilton. Or think about Jordan Belfort in ‘Wolf of Wallstreet.’ This type is wild, parties frequently, spends his money on everything that looks nice, drowns in the comfort of luxury but doesn’t know how to appreciate it because he has become too blasé to this lifestyle. He likes to drive a Lamborghini and go on spontaneous holidays to Paris, Milan or other beautiful cities. He changes his ‘girlfriend’ – or should they even be called that – every week. He prefers the finer things in life and has a taste for Lafite. However, if you strip away his inherited wealth, he is essentially a blank piece of canvas with nothing; completely empty.
The ‘Harvard’ One - the type that studies non-stop and is rather talented in studying and retaining knowledge. He is an overachiever but his social skills is extremely lacking. An introvert, he prefers the companies of books and watches only documentaries, preferably Animal Planet and National Geographic. He wears baggy clothes and does not concern himself with appearance or fixing his hair that always looks like a bird nest. The only thing on his mind is getting into that Ivy League School, or becoming an engineer.
The ‘Boy-Next-Door’ One - completely ordinary and nothing entirely special. Usually laid-back and chill, he likes to play video games, sports, and watches movies. He comes from an average, loving family and has a good relationship them. He doesn’t do badly in school nor does he perform particularly well. He gets by. Like any person, he has dreams, but he doesn’t chase after them. Still stuck in those ordinary, confusing teenage years, he remains unambitious and disoriented. However, he is comfortable in his own shell and that’s all that matters. His confidence comes like random bursts of energy. Sometimes he likes to be sociable, sometimes he doesn’t. Sometimes he likes to talk, sometimes he doesn’t. He is completely average and ordinary, but he doesn’t mind.
