Title: Love Gone Wrong

Tagline: when love becomes too magical

Plot: Girl has a crush on boy. She reads all these books on how to make him fall in love with her. She goes to the library* and asks the librarian where all these ‘relationship advice’ books are. The girl and the librarian speaks for a while and the librarian tells her that she’ll give her something but the girl must keep it a secret. The librarian pulls out a book of spells and asks the girl to perform it where no one can see. All she needs are the ingredients: flower petals, perfume, grass, lemon juice, and strawberries and put it in a glass while chanting…(to be decided). The girl tries to perform the spell, but ends up thinking it doesn’t work. She goes home, and the next day she wakes up, she is greeted by every single boy* at school because the spell made all of the boys fall in love with her. She enjoyed the attention for a while, but the boys started to become more aggressive and obsessive. They would follow her home; sneak into her bedroom and watch her sleep; punch anyone coming near her. The girl panics and asks the librarian what is going on. The librarian replies, “don’t you know? After love comes obsession.” Scared, the girl asks how she can reverse everything, and the librarian tells her to go back to the woods and destroy the glass where the spell is feeding the energy off the ingredients. The girl races out of the library and is met by a group of boys who followed her there, knowing she wants to destroy the glass and are trying to stop her because they are still under the spell. She runs to the woods and they try to follow her. The girl manages to destroy the glass. After the spell has been broken, the group of boys stare at each other, confused, before disbanding and dispersing. The girl is dejected and sighs, before looking up and sees her crush standing there. He says, “So are you free this Saturday?” The girl smiles and the camera cuts to black.

Potential Flaws, Problems

*Vintage and picturesque libraries are hard to come by in Hong Kong, so maybe a small, ‘indie’ cafe with books and bookshelves can be an alternative. Or Page One - Festival Walk or Harbour City. It needs to look cute, vintage, with wood brown tones and ambient lighting.

*Actors are hard to find – need to keep it simple (max. 4 characters)

Scenes Suitable for the Narrative

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8OXkqc6mo0 - Angel

  • The forest scene where there are magical lights everywhere

  • Overwhelming amount of green

  • The ‘magical’ lights effect - overlay an image on top of the video and adjust the transparency and opacity e.g. ‘hardlight,’ ‘softlight,’ ‘difference’ etc.
